With much lower energy use than traditional light bulbs, LED bulbs are kinder on both the planet and your pocket. But there's far more to modern LED lighting technology than eco-friendly thrift.

Today's LED bulbs are also highly decorative and produce better light quality than other sources. Choosing the right decorative LED bulbs can have a major effect on the atmosphere of a room. Learn the important information you need to know about them here.

Decorative LED Bulbs for Every Space

Decorative LED light bulbs are versatile and can be fitted to many kinds of bases. They can be used in traditional wall and table lamps for a classic or contemporary style or fitted in overhead pendant fixtures for elegant illumination in any room. For even more impact, choose LED candelabra bulbs for an elegant yet cozy glow to brighten rooms, hallways or stairways.

Lighting Strength

LED filament bulbs can offer illumination in a range of strengths, from a soft, warming glow to the bright equivalent of a sunny day.

The lighting power of traditional incandescent bulbs is measured in watts while LED light bulbs use a more accurate measure known as lumens. If you want the illumination of an old-fashioned 100W bulb, choose an LED light with a rating of 1,500 lumens. All our bulbs show an equivalent wattage rating on their packaging, making it easy to choose the right strength for any room.

Even better, unlike older LED bulbs, today's designs can work with dimmer switches so you can easily change light levels to suit different moods and situations.

LED Light Bulb Life

LED bulbs may cost a little more per unit than traditional bulbs, but they save you money (and time and effort) in the long run. Not only do they consume less energy for lower electricity bills, but they have a much longer life meaning fewer bulb changes.

Ordinary incandescent bulbs typically shine for between 1,000 and 2,000 hours, although power surges and other incidents can shorten this considerably. In comparison, you can expect an LED bulb to last for up to 40,000 hours before its lighting power starts to fade.

Each bulb we stock shows an estimated life span on the pack and most also include a manufacturer's warranty to guarantee longevity.

Color Choices

If you want to change the atmosphere of a room, mood lighting using colored bulbs or multicolored strip lighting can make a huge difference. Choose blue bulbs for a calm and relaxing feel, red for energy and warmth, or green for harmony and peacefulness .

Even if you’re not into colored lights, we have decorative LED bulbs in a wide range of color temperatures, illuminating in brilliant white or casting a warmer, gentler light with a yellow tinge.

Lighting your home is about much more than simple illumination. If you need any help or advice on any aspect of decorative LED light bulbs, fittings or fixtures, please contact us or come into your local Ace store and we'll be happy to help.
