About This Store
Our founder, Pete Stedman, began work in this building in 1939. It was then Arkansas Farm Machinery. January 1973 it became Stedman's Ace Hardware. We still sell the hardware and farm supplies that he sold after getting out of the farm equipment dealership. Mr. Pete continued working every day until his death at almost 90, in May 2007. Jackie Nobles, employed since 1978, and wife Debbie, bought Stedman's later in 2007. A huge setback occurred in October 2009, when the warehouse burned. Firefighters were able to save the sales building, but the warehouse was a total loss. The insurance adjuster told us it was sad and discouraging, but we would come back better than before. It didn't seem possible, but he was right. The new huge warehouse space wasn't enough, though. Stedman's expanded again in 2012 by adding another building across the alley from the main store. It became our Lawn & Garden Center. Stedman's is Ace The Helpful Place; voted Best Hardware Store 9 years in a row!
