Tavares Ace Hardware has been family owned and operated since 1985 by the Carter Family. Roy Carter Sr. purchased the ACE hardware store located in Tavares FL. while still operating within its original downtown location. By the early 1920s, this building was home to the Tavares Hardware Store, where it later became known as Tavares Ace Hardware in 1967. During the year of 2005, Roy Carter Sr. and his son Roy "Cadie Carter Jr. made a difficult decision. They both acknowledged that they had outgrown there current store and the family made a decided to relocate. The new store was built on S.R. 19 where it offered big benefits. Not only does this 12,000 square foot store provide more retail space than the orginal Main Street location, but it also has an abundance of customer parking.
