About This Store
Our company was founded in Williamston, SC in 1925 by J.L. Simpson. The company began as a cotton gin and lumber company and has evolved through the years into what is now Ace Hardware & Rental in Williamston, SC and Honea Path Ace Hardware in Honea Path, SC. The Simpson family still owns the business and it is currently operated by Jim Simpson (3rd generation) and Mike Simpson (4th generation). The company is committed to providing its customers with the highest level of customer service and convenience. Our staff is dedicated to serving both of the communities we are privileged to serve. We are proud to be a part of the Ace family of independent hardware stores from all across the country and around the world. Community Outreach
The Greater Williamston Business Association is a very active group of local businesses that work together to improve not only the business environment in our trade area but also the way of life for our entire community. This group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Call for time and place.
On the Saturday the weekend before Easter each year, parents, grandparents and children of all ages in our community gather in our Mineral Spring Park for a mass Easter Egg Hunt sonsored by our local business association. Usually over 400 children participate.
On the Saturday before the 4th of July each year our community again gathers for a fun day of rides and events for the kids, food and concessions from various local groups, a classic car show and finally a huge fireworks celebration. All this is centered around the parking lot at our store.
We have a sports complex right behind our hardware store and each year when spring arives 6 baseball fields are swarming with young people enjoying our national pastime. We sponser this program with various donations of money and merchandise.
Our store is a Stallion Level donor to our local Palmetto High School Athletic Club. We also support many other groups and activities in the schools during each school year. We were a major contributer to the new scoreboards at both the football field and in the gym.
As a part of our local business association, our store takes the lead role each year in organizing and running our annual fund raising golf tournament. We raise about $3000 each year for community improvements and beautification of our downtown area through this event.
The 4th Saturday each August our Mineral Sring Park is transformed into a community festival. A wide variety of good food, 3 stages of live entertainment, a crafts fair, a classic car show and carnival rides for the kids are just some of the events that take place that day.
Lights. lights and more lights adorn our Mineral Spring Park each year from Thanksgiving until New Years Day. Local businesses, civic groups and churches erect lighted Christmas displays in observance of the season. City Hall across the street is also a sight to see and is a picture post card.
Bands, Floats, Beauty Queens, Dance Groups, Classic Cars, Horses and of course Santa Claus are all the stars of this annual event in our community. Our store won first prize year before last for our Ace Hardware Float. Main street is always lined with smiling children of all ages.
