Schaefer's Ace Hardware

The Schaefer's Ace chain has 6 stores located on Long Island, NY. They are owned by Mike Pecoraro and Cristy Schaefer, husband and wife, who give new meaning to a Mom and Pop hardware store, and they have now been joined by their children, keeping it all in the family. Our original store, Howard Beach, is over 65 years old, having first been owned by Cristy's father, Walter. When he retired in the 80's, Mike took over the helm. In 2006, Cristy returned to the family business and the Rockville Centre (RVC) store was opened. They expanded their hardware merchandise assortment, along with other niche goods. Upon the success of this new formula, they were anxious to expand again. Within an 11 month period between 2010 and 2011, they opened the stores in Commack, Glen Cove, and Hewlett. A few months later, they moved the original Howard Beach store down the road to a larger building. Not missing a beat, they opened their 6th store, Bayville.
