As a business rich in tradition and family we begin our fifth generation of leadership. We realize what has made us a strong brick and mortar business is our love of community and service for over 120 years. Mike and Mary (Whitmore) Cripe along with their two sons Michael and David, expanded the company to four locations, Wilmington, Braidwood, Manteno, and Manhattan. Michael and David have now added three locations in Mokena, New Lenox, & Coal City for a total of 7 locations. Historically hardware stores have been designated as a general store filling the needs of the community. So, putting a twist on a modern general store fit into our plans, adding trends in fashion, gift, and home.....a modern general store called "Water Street" was born. Water Street is the address of our first store opened in Wilmington in 1896.
