Porters Ace of Smithville

Porters Building Centers began as Kearney Lumber Company on June 7th of 1952 by Mack & Mary Helen Porter. The company began in a rented from Oren Major's who had closed the lumberyard there many years ago. The building had most recently been used as a mule barn. Mack cashed in revenue from teaching high school math and science and coaching. Mary Helen sold her new car. The company has grown to four locations. Kearney, Smithville and Laurie in Missouri and one contractor & distribution yard in Elwood, KS. Porters stock many fine products other than those that you find in a typical Ace Hardware store. We feature Benjamin Moore, Clark+Kensington and Ace Royal paints along with Cabot and TWP. Other major brands include Stihl Outdoor power tools, Big Green Egg, Traeger and Weber grills, Milwaukee, DeWalt and Craftsman power tools, and Yellawood pressure treated lumber. Mack Porter grew up in Paradise, MO and graduated from Smithville High School in 1945.
